Benefits of the Teaching

You are here, in an Initiatic school, in order to learn quantities of truths which are new to you and which will enable you to straighten out your lives, to renew and organize them and set them on a path towards a heavenly goal. Try it! Restore order within yourselves; yoke the forces of your intellect, heart and will together and steer them towards one goal: the accomplishment of the will of God. You will soon see how your life changes.

To be sure, you will not be immune to the buffeting of strong winds and earth tremors: for as long as you are on earth you are bound to experience some unpleasant shocks, but they will pass far more quickly than before and will not leave the same scars behind them. Your houses will stand firm because they will be built of more resilient materials, whereas previously they were liable to collapse at the slightest shock.

Brochure B301, The New Year

There cannot be true fraternity without learning about the experience of living collectively in a fraternal setting. Thus, the Universal White Brotherhood has organized itself into non-profit associations in more than 40 countries over the five continents. In these countries, to allow the discovery, understanding and practice of the Teaching of Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov, weekly meetings and retreats are regularly organized in the centers of these associations. To those who wish to participate, no question is asked concerning their social, intellectual, political, or religious affiliation. One is only asked to overcome one’s differences (in origins, education, and convictions) and to learn to live fraternally.

The activities of the fraternal centers have a community character, yet everyone pursues their professional and family activities in the world. During the retreats, however, the organization is adapted to allow the practice of certain collective activities. Thus, during a day in the brotherhood, moments are devoted to prayers, songs and meditations in common, gymnastic exercises, vegetarian meals taken in silence and recorded talks by Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov. To this is added the voluntary participation in various tasks (meal preparation, maintenance of premises and various facilities, organizational events, gardening, artistic and cultural activities, etc.).

In spring and summer, weather permitting, the days begin at sunrise, a privileged time for reflection, meditation and prayer. In many centers, people gather on Sundays and Wednesday mornings to perform the Paneurhythmy, a harmonic dance for which Peter Deunov composed the music and designed the movements of great beauty and simplicity. No rituals accompany fraternal meetings, and there is no system of “ranks” or hierarchy in the centers.
