The name “Universal White Brotherhood”
Universal:
By virtue of their psychic structure, human beings, created in the image of God, are capable of raising and expanding their consciousness to a universal conception of life.
White:
Some people may assume “white” refers to the color of the skin. This term must be understood symbolically. It refers to white light, a spiritual symbol par excellence, which is the synthesis of all colors (as revealed by its decomposition through the prism). The two terms “Universal” and “Brotherhood” which frame it should remove any ambiguity regarding this point.
Brotherhood:
Or ‘Fraternity’ means that this teaching is addressed to the community of human beings throughout the world whose predestination is to live together as children of the same father: God and the same mother: Nature.

The name “Universal White Brotherhood” therefore represents, by itself, a program. The Master’s teaching is a way of living; a precise analysis of the various mechanisms of the human psyche, as well as appropriate methods and exercises allowing each man and woman to work on themselves by which they eventually truly feel they are becoming a brother, a sister of all humanity, a son, a daughter, of God, of Nature, and a conscious inhabitant of this immense dwelling which is the universe.
