Spiritual Practices

Collective Work

Daily tasks, balancing physical and spiritual work

Picture

The organization of meetings involves various tasks which are carried out in a collective and fraternal way. These include meal preparations, maintaining the gardens and cleaning the communal spaces, both inside and out. Organic fields and orchards require weeding, planting and harvesting. Repairs, cleaning and painting are also necessary to maintain the buildings.

Spiritualizing Every Action

Many people imagine that as spiritual beings we have to devote all our time to prayer and meditation, but this is not so. Whatever work we do, even if it is highly spiritual, becomes extremely prosaic when it is not animated by a very high, sublime ideal, and the reverse is also true: even the most prosaic, down-to-earth work can become truly spiritual if we know how to inject an element of the divine into it.

Spirituality is not a matter of refusing all material, physical activity, but of doing whatever we do, with and in the light. Spirituality is a question of knowing how to use all our work in order to rise to greater heights, to become more harmonious, and to link ourselves more and more firmly to God.
